Deadpool & Wolverine–Next trailer lands… with Wolverine this time

We looked at all the best movies scheduled for release in 2024 (see them all here), and nothing seems more eagerly awaited than the third Deadpool movie–Deadpool & Wolverine.  The second trailer is here and unlike the first trailer, which was entirely Deadpool, fans get to see Hugh Jackman return to the character for the first time since being killed off at the end of the Academy Award-nominated Logan–the greatest superhero drama of all time.  But Marvel is synonymous with Multiverse!  So now with Marvel anything goes… and stakes are pretty much out the window.  At last–that might be a good thing.  All that junk about the “time variance authority” in Loki may have set us up for more X-Men and Wolverine movies with the original cast.  It’s what we all want, right?  More Michael Fassbender as Magneto?  More Dafne Keen as Laura aka X-23?  Bring it on!  One drawback is the villain: Emma Corrin plays Cassandra Nova, twin to Professor X–how many times are we going to see a Patrick Stewart character in the lookalike trope?

Although we’ve seen Marvel superheroes switch sides from Disney Marvel to 20th Century Fox Sony Marvel and go back again (see, for example, Spider-Man), this is Disney doing Rated R Marvel, and the first they really get their mitts into Deadpool and Wolverine–the biggest Marvel movie superhero of them all.  It also means, unfortunately, that kiddies will be staying home because this one is all F-bombs and sexual innuendo that even kids can figure out.

Check out the second trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine:

Here’s the first trailer in case you missed it…

Will this one get audiences back to the movie theater?  Hopefully it gets a quick pick-up on Max either way.

Deadpool & Wolverine is slated for release July 26, 2024.
