Planet Comicon Kansas City has been one of the Midwest’s biggest comic book and pop culture conventions and that was no less so in 2014 when it became the largest attended event in the history of the Kansas City Convention Center. And it’s only gotten bigger. This year the event is celebrating 26 years since its first show in 1999. Leading things off from the slate of celebrity guests are Back to the Future, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, and The Addams Family star Christopher Lloyd, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and Longmire star Katee Sackhoff, Doctor Who’s David Tennant and Alex Kingston, and The Addams Family and Wednesday star Christina Ricci. Returning guests include Scream, Scooby Doo, and Bosch star Matthew Lillard and Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Lord of the Rings star John Rhys-Davies. Rhys-Davies will be joined by two other members of the cast from The Lord of the Rings–Gollum and Smeagol actor (and director) Andy Serkis and Faramir actor David Wenham.

Cinema stars Pam Grier (Jackie Brown, Ghosts of Mars, Mars Attacks!) and Ann-Margret (Grumpy Old Men, The Kominsky Method, State Fair) and Helen Hunt (Twister, As Good as it Gets) are scheduled to be signing autographs and taking photographs with fans, as are Marvel franchise stars Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil, Echo), and Aasif Mandvi (Spider-Man 2). Watchmen fans can see a reunion of stars Carla Gugino and Malin Akerman. And for fans of The Walking Dead there’s Tom Payne and Ross Marquand. Plus astronaut Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger, actors from classic TV series, voice actors from favorite animated series, and many more.
Of course some of the biggest names and most popular comics creators are also in the line-up for this year’s show. Come back tomorrow to hear about writer, artist, and other guests scheduled to attend the event. It all takes place this weekend beginning Friday at Kansas City’s convention center at Bartle Hall, March 21-23, 2025.
There’s something for every fandom and genre, fanboy and fangirl at this year’s show. Check the Planet Comicon Kansas City website here for info about even more guests slated to attend, including several voice actors, cosplayers, and lots more. Follow the website for late additions and cancellations. Note: Not all guests will be attending the event each day of the show, so check the website for details.
It’s almost here: Planet Comicon Kansas City is March 21, 22, and 23, 2025, in downtown Kansas City at the Kansas City Convention Center. Tickets are still available for each day, including photo opportunities and autographs.
