Andor–A better second trailer for second season of Star Wars series

It may simply be swapping real-world pop music for excerpts of the programmatic score.  Whatever the reason, suddenly the second season of Disney/Lucasfilm’s Star Wars series Andor looks more promising than before.  As we reviewed it in its first season, Andor arrived as a clunky, drawn-out, boring ride that lacked the fun and the heart of the original 1977 movie that brought a world together to love a galaxy, far, far away Writer/creator Tony Gilroy is bringing back the connective story that gets Diego Luna’s unlikely hero Cassian Andor from unknown quantity to one of the small band that plants the seed in Rogue One to save the Death Star and create the hope in Star Wars aka A New Hope.

This trailer lets viewers hear directly from the director and actors, showcasing those costumes and alien races that makes the show look Star Wars-y in the first place.  It looks good, so hopefully the script matches the expectations the trailer creates.  But the timing practically requires the return of CGI Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin.  Did Disney spend the money to make that happen for this season?  He doesn’t appear in either trailer, despite the appearance of his counterpart Director Krennec, played by Ben Mendelsohn.

Here’s the new second trailer for Andor season two:

And in case you missed it, the first trailer…

For Season 2 Genevieve O’Reilly, who took on the role of Mon Mothma in Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One, Star Wars Rebels, and Ahsoka, is back with Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera.

Can Andor lift itself as something better than the first season, out from being one of the lesser Star Wars series with the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Acolyte?  Everyone wants this to be good.  Find out with the first three episodes of Andor beginning April 22, 2025, then streaming new episodes weekly on Disney+.
